Nursery of The Year - Wales:

Home From Home Children’s Day Nursery - Porth

This new setting in the heart of the Rhondda Valleys strives to create a safe, warm and engaging environment with some staff members speaking Welsh as well as English. Home from Home aims to enrich early lives, meeting individual care, learning and developmental needs so that each child can grow and flourish to reach their full potential as a happy, confident and empathetic individual. Employees develop close partnerships with parents, based on mutual respect, understanding and trust, recognising their role as the child’s prime carer and educator. Judges rated strong community involvement and great staff.

Nursery of The Year - Wales - runner up:

Meithrinfa Y Pelican - Cardiff

Meithrinfa Y Pelican’s wholesome, fully-organic menu combined with its complete Welsh language setting makes it unique to Cardiff. Ever mindful of environmental issues, all cleaning products used are eco-friendly and nappies are 100% recycled. Food is sourced from local farmers, making sure meals have the best ingredients with seasonal vegetable picked on the day they are served. With a recently-expanded capacity of 44, after only a year in business, its three large open plan rooms offer a colourful, stimulating and homely environment alongside outdoor space for activities, exploration and getting messy.

Nursery of The Year - Wales - highly commended:

Little Lambs Day Nursery - Kinmel Bay

Little Lambs in Kinmel Bay is open Monday to Saturday and runs playgroup sessions within the day to enable children to access more services. Located in a less affluent area, staff members encourage attendance at a younger age so that children can get to know new people and learn and grow, and children are later helped to prepare for school. Employees go out of their way to make sure children, parents and staff are happy with provision. Every team member knows each individual child and their background, making sure they are able to give them the best possible start in life.
