Guidance for parents on how to find their 30 hours code

Following feedback that some parents and carers have found it difficult to retrieve their 11 digit eligibility code once they have successfully applied online for 30 hours, Bristol City Council have shared this useful step-by-step guide to show how to find the code again. You can share this guidance with parent or carers you know are having problems retrieving their code.

Functional skills and model agreement announcements

The Childcare Minister Caroline Dinenage last week confirmed the return of functional skills for level three qualification requirements as part of new Early Years Workforce Strategy – and also launched the Department for Education’s (DfE) Model Agreement to local authorities for 30 hours. NDNA is delighted about functional skills – but warns the Model Agreement is unworkable.

Clarification on medicines in early years settings

The DfE has clarified paragraph 3.45 of the EYFS relating to medicines in the early years.

It states that 'medicines must not usually be administered unless they have been prescribed'. Settings must not, as their usual practice, administer medicines without permission to do so.

The DfE will clarify this further in the next amendment of the EYFS.
