NDNA has secured an exclusive deal for its members to receive discounted DBS checks.

In a recent poll, the national charity found that almost a third of its members were paying more than £50 for DBS checks.

NDNA members in England and Wales can now get a DBS check – including VAT and a £3 administration fee – at a total cost of just £47.60.

Claire Schofield, NDNA’s Director of Membership, Policy and Communications, said: “We have added another essential benefit to the NDNA member package by partnering exclusively with uCheck.

“NDNA members can be assured that they are getting the very best price and service from uCheck as part of their NDNA member benefit package.”

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, previously known as Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks, check a person’s criminal record.

Nurseries have to run checks on all staff, so settings with average staff turnover could spend over £100 a year.

Previously, NDNA recommended that nurseries go to the WCVA (Wales Council for Voluntary Action) for DBS checks, but this service closed last year.

uCheck screens over 250,000 candidates per year, and almost 90% of NDNA members polled said that their service is good or excellent.

While the discount is only available to NDNA members in England and Wales, uCheck will complete PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) checks for Scotland members at a flat fee of £71.
