This introductory course will show you how to effectively observe, assess and plan children’s development. Using different techniques we look at the importance of the observation, assessment and planning cycle. Easily learn different techniques to add to your daily practice.

  • Practice assessment procedures and link these to current practice
  • Use assessments to plan next steps for children 0-5
  • Understand the importance of the characteristics of effective learning on the learning journey of a child 0-5
  • Observe, assess and plan for schematic behaviour in children aged 0-5
  • Brain development and child development
  • Tracking tools.
Full day additional topics:
  • How understanding brain development can help with planning
  • Tracking children’s progress and assessment tools.
