Comprehensive Spending Review 2020 and the early years sector

This is a crucial period for nurseries in England as the Government is looking at its spending plans for next year.

We want early education and childcare to get the attention and money needed to be able to deliver the high quality service everyone wants to give our children.

In recent years we have seen the funding for early years providers stagnate and as costs rise (minimum wage, living wage, pension requirements and general inflation) this means a real term cuts in the money you receive to deliver childcare promises made by the Government.

We have three simple asks for government for the 25 November 2020 Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR):

1. An urgent response to COVID-19

2. Get the funding right for early years

3.  Simplify the childcare funding system.

You need your MP and wider government to see your value and put together a #PlanForChildcare.

Four things you can do right now to make a difference

One

Download our CSR Funding Rates Calculator.

It includes funding rates in your area, underspend in early years spending and National Living Wage increases.

Two

Use your funding rates data to download our CSR letter/email template and contact your MP to get them to stand up for nurseries like yours and highlight issues you have faced.

Find your MPs contact details hereSend them our three simple CSR asks.

Two

Tag your MP in your social media posts using our template CSR social posts and #PlanForChildcare

Find MP social media handles here.

Four

Invite your MP to for a virtual visit of your nursery and use our #PlanForChildcare Zoom background (see instructions for using it) between 2 - 23 November.

We want them to see the value of your setting to your children, their parents and the local community.

A Plan for Jobs needs a #PlanForChildcare.

We'd love to hear the response you have had from your MP too - email us at pressoffice@ndna.org.uk
