NDNA and NDNA Cymru call for nurseries to be prioritised for vaccine

For months we have been calling for better access to testing for early years staff, and with schools now closed, these settings have to be a priority. We all know it’s impossible to distance from toddlers and babies who need close care and contact. Therefore early years staff must also be a priority for the vaccine to enable them to continue on the frontline providing support for families.

Joint campaign to protect the safety of the early years workforce 

Leading early years organisations the Early Years Alliance, NDNA and PACEY have issued a joint call for the government to take urgent steps to protect the safety and financial sustainability of those working in nurseries, pre-schools and childminding settings in England, in light of the government decision to ask early years settings remain open during national lockdown while instructing schools to close.

DfE reveals reasoning behind its decision to keep nurseries open

The Department for Education (DfE) has shared with NDNA its rationale behind keeping nurseries open to all children but closing schools to most pupils. Purnima Tanuku OBE, Chief Executive of NDNA has met with Childcare Minister Vicky Ford to discuss the situation that nurseries are now in and what support the Government could offer them.
