Nursery of The Year - overall winner:

Saddleworth Stars Nursery, Oldham

Saddleworth Stars Nursery is in an idyllic area with its own private meadow. The nursery strives to develop each child to their full potential socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually, in a secure and vibrant environment. The owners’ hands-on and dedicated delivery of quality childcare is reflected in the nursery’s strong family ethos.

The judges were wowed by the ‘VIP planning’ approach to acknowledge each child’s individuality as well as strong links with the wider community, parent partnerships, attitude towards diversity, imaginative story scribing and magical garden area – including a fairy in residence called Felicity!  Most importantly, Saddleworth Stars is a place of happiness and enjoyment for all with lots and lots of laughter!


Central EnglandNursery of the year central England winners 2017

Winner: The Wendy House Day Nursery, Wythall, Birmingham

The Wendy House provides a vibrant and stimulating environment where children can thrive. Judges were impressed by the nursery’s inclusive and progressive attitude, highlighted through an abundance of open-ended resources, presence of a parent liaison officer to cement strong parent partnerships and plans to expand with eco-classrooms as a key feature.

Runner up: Shrewsbury Prepatoria Nursery and Pre School, Shrewsbury
Highly Commended: Swineshead Pre School Centre, Boston

South of EnglandNursery of the year south of England winners 2017

Winner: Building Blocks Childcare, Teddington 

Building Blocks Childcare promotes children to have a lifelong thirst for knowledge and love of learning. Judges loved the team’s endeavours to enhance and extend natural developmental processes through fun-filled sensory play, interactive puppet shows and focus on child engagement.

Runner up: D-Dee’s Day Nursery, Kent
Highly Commended: Westchester House Nursery, Surrey

North of England nursery of the year winners 2017North of England

Winner: Saddleworth Stars Nursery, Oldham

Outstanding in all areas, Saddleworth Stars is an exceptional setting for encouraging children to grow and appreciate the wider world. From babies to pre-school, their individual needs are catered for and at the heart of the nursery is a remarkably dedicated staff team winning them not just the Northern category but overall winner of NDNA’s Nursery of the Year!
