Foundation Phase Excellence Network Event

The aim of the Foundation Phase Excellence Network is to support the development and embedding of effective Foundation Phase pedagogy across Wales for improved practice and experiences for children, as part of a self-sustaining, self-improving education system. It identifies, promotes and supports evidence-based pedagogical development, supports education leadership and understanding of what constitutes effective practice in the Foundation Phase.

In 2007 I was appointed within the School of Early Childhood where I have been able to link my interest in sustainability and wellbeing with young children’s experiences of Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship (ESDGC) in Wales. I have a level 3 Forest School Leader qualification which supports my work with children and adults in the outdoors.

Shana is an education consultant and trainer with over 18 years’ experience working with children and families. Shana is a qualified teacher who specialises in Early Years, well-being and quality improvement support. Engage Early Years was founded by Shana Laffy in 2016 to empower Early Years settings, schools, childminders and organisations, to reflect on their everyday practice and offer the best quality care and education in a holistic way.
