Observation, Assessment and Planning – Refreshing your practice in 2021

This webinar with Di Chilvers, Advisory Consultant in Early Childhood Education, looked at observation, assessment and planning as it is explained in the Birth to Five Matters Guidance and how this links to the EYFS Statutory Framework 2021.

We looked at new ways of assessing children without using tick lists or highlighting statements, keeping your focus on children’s development through skillful observation, with time for discussion and a Q&A.

Early Entitlement Places: Are Your Invoices Compliant with Government Guidance?

Morgan La Roche logo

In January 2021, the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman ruled that a nursery chain in Leicestershire had been charging parents a ‘top-up fee’ and urged all Councils to have better oversight of nurseries offering free early years places. The Ombudsman’s investigation found Leicestershire County Council did not have sufficient oversight of the way the nursery charged parents when administering free early years places; failed to work with the nursery to ensure its invoices were clear, transparent and itemised and failed to identify the nursery’s charging policy did not comply with government guidance.

Could your Local Authority be next?

This FREE one hour session with Andrew Manners, Solicitor at Morgan La Roche, covered:

    • Contract law and the contractual relationship between nursery and parents
    • Basic contract principles
    • What you can and can’t charge for
    • How to set up your invoice.
