NDNA member recognised in Queen's Birthday Honours

Sylvia Tiffney of Children’s House nursery in Stallingborough has been awarded with an MBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list. Sylvia Tiffney

Sylvia, past network chair for HumberLincs and past NDNA trustee, has been recognised for her services to young children in North East Lincolnshire. She has worked in early childhood education in Lincolnshire for over 40 years and her honour also recognises her voluntary work with NDNA since the 1990s.

Purnima Tanuku OBE, Chief Executive of National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA), said: “We are thrilled for Sylvia who has worked tirelessly in the early years sector for four decades.

“She spent many years as chair of the NDNA Lincolnshire members network which she herself formed, supporting other nurseries in the area and representing them on the local authority’s early years forum for eight years. Following this achievement, she became one of our national trustees and was involved in our quality accreditation scheme Quality Counts for which we gave her a Member Champion Award.

“She has always found the time to champion children’s rights and the importance of high quality early years education. Sylvia thoroughly deserves this honour.”

Congratulations to Hampton Tiddlers in Peterborough on their Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
