Deputy Minister thanks childcare sector in Wales
Julie Morgan AS/MS, the Deputy Minister for Health and Social Services, has written a letter thanking the childcare sector for all of their hard work and commitment throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
It emphasises the Welsh Government’s commitment to continue to support the sector through the these uncertain and challenging times.
The letter includes information regarding the support that has already been provided from the Welsh Government to the childcare sector and provides some information regarding vaccinations. It explains that as with the rest of the UK, the Welsh Government are working to the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation priority schedule for vaccination roll out.
The Deputy Minister does however confirm that childcare staff (including Flying Start) who provide intimate personal care on a regular basis to those who are clinically vulnerable to Covid-19 will be prioritised for vaccination as part of priority group 2. Guidance has been made available this week to local authorities and health boards on how such staff should be defined and identified.
Further information about the definitions of those eligible for vaccines can be found here
