Childcare Food Hygiene Training

NDNA and The Safer Food Group are working in partnership to offer two online food hygiene training courses.

These courses are unique to childcare and use clips filmed within an early years setting. These are the UK's lowest cost, fully accredited Food Hygiene training courses for early years. 

Both certificates are accredited by Qualifi, a leading National UK Awarding Organisation and  the syllabus is approved by UK Environmental Health Officers.

Level 2 Basic Food Hygiene

This course is seen as the industry standard and is for anyone who handles, prepares, cooks and serves food in the nursery.

Study time:
approximately 4 ½ hours

Who is this course for: People who actually cook or handle food from chilled, frozen or fresh/raw.

This course is split into a variety of chapters with a short video on each chapter and a quick test to check your progress. Each chapter focuses on a different area of food hygiene, topics covered include:

  • Food poisoning
  • Personal hygiene
  • Cleaning & disinfection.

Level 2 is the course we would strongly recommend as the minimum requirement for anybody working in the food industry.

Level 3 Supervisor Food Hygiene

This course is strongly recommended for anyone in a management position.

Study time:
Approximately 20 - 25 hours

Who is this course for: Nursery Cook, Chef, Supervisor, Manager or Business Owner or level 2 certificate holder looking to develop food safety and management knowledge.

The course covers food safety and bacteria in more detail and provides information on how you manage both the business and your team in vital areas such:
  • The law
  • Controlling bacteria and food threats
  • Physical and chemical contamination
  • Personal hygiene and food safety
  • Food Safety Management System including HACCP
  • Training your team
  • Ethics and the environment

The course has been developed, written and verified by working Environmental Health Officers and is already a popular course with school cooks. It includes 15 practical chapters with lots of videos to suit different learning styles and is filmed in real life kitchen situations. 

The course is 100% online including the exam and free retakes and the certificate will be emailed to you as soon as you pass.
